Chapter 13 reviews distributing and promoting products. Find a company that you admire and describe
how they promote their products. There are many examples of sales promotions given in the textbook.
Explain why you think the company you researched uses the types of sales promotions you describe.
Also included in chapter 13 are public relations. Find a public relations release and provide a sample or
link to the PR release. Describe what type of public relations tools were used by the company you are
reporting on and why they created the PR release, what was the purpose, goal results of the PR release.

Chapter 15 covers management and accounting information. Page 439 of the textbook reviews
accounting fraud and unethical behavior.
Enron is a famous case in business history. Describe what the company was accused of, who at the
company was charged with wrong doing and if they were found guilty. Include the outcome of the case,
what penalties or punishment did the judicial system give to the guilty parties. Did the infractions take
place prior to the creation of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act? Describe how the act would have impacted the
company and the people that were charged with wrongdoing.

Chapter 16 reviews financial management. Imagine you are a small business owner and need additional
capital to run your new business. There are several sources of financing described in the chapter.
Research and report on the requirements of the following sources for a loan to help run your business:
Traditional business loan with a local or national bank: What are the requirements for a line of credit?
What are the interest rates for the line of credit? Name the bank that you collected your information
from.
Factoring accounts receivable: There are businesses that will factor or advance money to business
owners for the receivables that are owed to the business. Find a factor and provide a summary of how
the factor lends against the receivable, what are their minimum requirements to lend against your
receivable. Is the factor recourse or non recourse and what are the charges or fees you would pay the
factor for this service?
Venture capital: this type of lending there is no bank involved, a private party or company is providing
the loan. Find a venture capital company that will provide a small business owner a loan and report on
their minimum requirements, terms and conditions and the interest rate they charge for the load.
