BUSINESS LAW 111 ASSESSMENT PROJECT
Your Assessment Project consists of the following items:
1. Define and explain in detail the different types of contracts. (Review Chapter 11 for
this information. There are 13 different types of contracts discussed. You are required to
discuss at least 11 of these contracts.)
2. Recite and explain in detail the elements of a contract. (The elements of a contract are
identified in Chapters 12-14, inclusive.)
3. List and give examples of the remedies available for breach of contract. (Chapter 19
addresses this item.)
4. Define what the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) is, and, how it is applied in the
United States. (Chapter 20 discusses the UCC.)
5. Identify commercial paper and negotiable instruments and how they are used.
(Commercial paper and negotiable instruments are used interchangeably. Review Chapter
25 for more information regarding these topics.)

The paper should be between four (4) and six (6) typewritten pages in length, doublespaced, on 8 2 inches by 11 inches. This paper must be written entirely by you. Write as
though you were explaining these concepts to me. Do not use quotes from the textbook
or any other sources.

www.cerritos.edu/mpribble under Law 111 to review the rubric to be used in the grading
process. Remember, this Assessment Project represents 25% of your final grade, so, it is
important that you do an excellent job on it.

I have found that many students receive failing grades on the Assessment Project due to
their poor English, spelling and grammatical skills. (i.e., incomplete sentences, failing to
insert commas and periods where appropriate, misspelling of words, long paragraphs
with no appropriate breaks between paragraphs, etc.) If you know that you generally
have difficulty writing English well, I would further encourage you to seek out a friend,
relative or classmate who is strong in this area, and, have him or her proofread the paper
before you turn it in to me.
