Comments:

In academic writing,
students should strive to be clear and concise in order to convey their ideas
in an understandable way. Long sentences composed of uncommon words make for
cumbersome reading and often times do not make any sense. Choosing the right
words and keeping the prose simple and direct, in general, is the best approach
to comprehensible expression.

Academic writing is
formal; a few common mistakes to avoid are using slang, sentence fragments,
colloquialisms, and contractions. Students should become familiar with the
American Psychological Association (APA) Publication Manual Sixth Edition. This
important reference details the guidance to follow in academic writing at CTU.
All written work, including DB posts, should be in proper academic writing
form.

Additionally, ensure that
your writing is structured correctly with complete sentences, paragraphs, and
proper grammar and spelling. Remember to keep academic writing formal, avoid
over generalizing, making unsupported statements, and using personal language.
The primary goal of academic writing is clarity, so as you are starting to
write, focus on the message and developing the proper APA writing style.
