Project:
Automated Payroll Information System
Aim:
To create a system that will automate payroll transactions while managing human relations,
payroll, time, tax and benefits administrations.
Functional Requirements:
• The system should have the capability to enable maximum employee access to self-service
personal benefits information and automated transaction processing.
• Multiple users can access system at any given time
• Individual profiles for each user
• The system must calculate gross pay, deductions, and net pay, employee, and employer
contributions for each employee on an effective pay period basis.
• Must be able to search employees by name
• A pay history showing gross pay by type, deductions by type and net pay for each pay period
• A time and attendance history showing hours or days worked by type of pay for each pay
period
• Adequate internal controls to ensure payroll systems are operating as intended.
• A leave history showing beginning balances, leave accruals, leave usages, and ending balance,
by type for each period.
Non-functional requirements:
• Accessible to users 24/7
• Employee login requires valid login and password before granting further access.
• This system shall keep a record of all failure login attempts with user login, terminal login and
time.
• Payroll system performs automatic backups once per batch.
• Pay is calculated at the end of each pay period after properly authorized inputs have been
received from the Time and Attendance Processing Function
• Collect T&A data on a pay period basis, e.g., daily, weekly, biweekly, semimonthly, and/or
monthly basis.
• Data storage and interaction is in open format.
